Dan Smith, Chairman & CEO: Dan was the founder and chief architect of The Master Builder, a construction management software system, building the company from the ground up into a successful and lucrative business that was sold to Intuit in 2001. He also has a deep-rooted understanding of the complexities of hospital management based on his experience as the Chairman of the Board for Sonoma West Medical Center. This combination of start-up, programming and hospital management expertise, along with his desire to make a difference, motivated him to invest in and lead MedWave Software Solutions. In addition to his management responsibilities, Dan also serves as one of the chief developers of HarmoniMD™.
Dr. Jim Gude, Board Secretary: Jim is the Medical Director and Founder of OffSiteCare. He is an intensivist who is board-certified in pulmonary, critical care, and internal medicine. Jim is deeply committed to medical education and has launched a ground-breaking program that uses the telemedicine network to enable physicians and nurses to fulfill their continuing education requirements over the Internet.
Doug Michael, Board Treasurer: Doug has over 40 years of senior management experience and has held offices as CEO, President and Vice President in technology companies. He holds an MBA in marketing and interpersonal communications, an undergraduate degree in Pre-Law, as well as special designated credentials to teach in California Community Colleges. Doug has specific skills in both entrepreneurial and large business development and management including being a former employee of the General Electric Company.
Nick Smith, Board Member & Chief Technology Officer: Nick is the inspiration behind HarmoniMD and served as the lead developer in its earliest stages. Nick manages all development, hosting, database integration, and connectivity to other platforms. Nick is not related to Dan Smith.
Jim Beyers, Board Member: Jim has practiced law in Sonoma County since 1972. He is founder of Beyers Costin Simon, Northern California’s leading real estate and commercial law firm. He specializes in real estate transactions, finance, land use, development and construction law. He has represented many commercial and residential real estate developers in Northern California, developing successful relationships with several that have spanned two to three decades.
Patty Wray, Board Member: Patty brings more than thirty years of human resources and executive management experience in public and privately held companies, including Hewlett Packard, Genentech, Monogram Biosciences and Accugenix/Charles River Laboratories. While at Monogram Biosciences, she was part of the leadership team that took the company public and was also involved with the acquisition of Aclara Biosciences and Monogram’s sale to LabCorp. More recently she was a co-owner of Accugenix Inc. and served as the lead executive in its sale to Charles River Laboratories.
Cathie Kosel, Board Member: Cathie has over 30 years of business experience in a variety of sectors including city and county government, as a mayor and chair of several commissions; secondary and higher education, as an administrator and lecturer; and owning her own business, voted the Women’s Council of Realtors entrepreneur of the year for 2011. She is a founding member of Alta Bates Hospice, with over 1,000 volunteers, and has served her community in many volunteer roles. Cathie received her AB degree from UC Berkeley and her Master of Science from California State University.
Bob Alboher, Board Member: Bob began his career on Wall Street with U.S. Trust Company and has over 39 years of investment experience. Having lived and worked in Singapore for 16 years, he also has significant emerging market and developing economies experience. While overseas, Bob served as Chief Investment Officer and Executive Director of a Dutch investment bank. He survived the Asian currency crisis of 1997 and is well-versed in the risks and opportunities of doing business in developing economies.
Matt Freeman, Board Member: An entrepreneur his entire life, Matt has over 20 years of litigation experience in California and is the managing partner of a state-wide law practice with an emphasis on fighting Nursing Home abuse on behalf of the most vulnerable in our society. He also operates the Lucky Lemon Farm near Occidental, CA with his wife. Prior to becoming an attorney, Matt was the managing partner of a London-based advertising company.
